hello donna. My name is lori and i live in MINOT,NORTH DAKOTA.I'm 50 years old now and i'm in vet assisant school.I'm planning on becomming a feline vet so i can open up a sancuary for abused and feral cats that would otherwise be destroyed.Right now,i'm learning about the different parasites that animals can catch and how to do fecal tests.I'm taking a home-study course through ashworth college in waycross georgia, which i'm using my Gi bill to pay for.I'm actually doing quite well in my studies and i find that kinda superising seeing that i haven't been in school for a long time.i had a very hard time figuring out just what medical math was(i'm not very good with math!!!)but looking through my lessons,i see alot of examples of it.I think that now that i'm older, maybe i'm also alittle wiser.I read everything i can get my hands on about feline health and it does help me alot because i beleve that knowedge is power.when i get my diploma,i plan on going to vet-tech school,do you think that's a good idea for me to do??I thought that if i went one step at a time,it would be easier for me to learn that way.Do you have any advice for me???LORI

Hi Lori, Thanks for your question! I'm not a veterinarian, so don't feel comfortable giving career advice, but I can tell you what I learned while I was at the Vet hospital. Veterinary schools are very competitive, so any and all education and experience you can gather before applying to vet schools is a plus. While researching the book, I saw students of all ages . . . from 20s to 60s!
